50k prize: Win your weight in beer

CATEGORIES: Beer Editor   Beer Runner

This summer is the 50th running of the Scotiabank Calgary Marathon. So they’re planning something different.

The race will include a 50K road race sponsored by Wild Rose Brewery, and everybody who finishes the 50k gets a beer stein. And if you’re the top male or female finisher you can take home your weight in beer.

If you’re buying pints at the sponsor’s Wild Rose taphouse in January, 25 cents from each purchase goes to the Women’s Centre of Calgary — one of the marathon’s featured charities.

You can sign up for the June 1st race at calgarymarathon.com.
