Isn’t it annoying when you find yourself at a bar surrounded by friends who only pay attention to their cell phone? That’s the question Brazilian watering hole Bar Salve Jorge and advertising agency Fischer & Friends proposed when they debuted The Offline Glass, a beer glass that only stands upright when set on the edge of a smartphone (or, what looks to be an iPhone).
A couple of protocol questions:
1. If you buy a pint for your buddy and hand him this glass, that’s passive-aggressive social shaming, right?
2. Do you make friends drink every time they check a text?
3. What if your friend has this phone?
4. Does AppleCare cover beer damage? I’d likely fry my iPhone and everyone else’s during the first spilled pint.
