Beer mile champion gets personalized beer label

A Canadian brewery celebrates runner's accomplishment with a fitting tribute.

Life is good when you’re a world-class beer miler.

Canadian beer miler (and former National Beer Mile world record holder) Lewis Kent was greeted with his own beer⎯Lewis Kent Lagered Ale⎯on a recent tour to Beau’s All Natural Brewing Co. in Ottowa.

“Beau’s has always been one of Lewis’ fav beers so for them to do something like this for him means the world,” said Kent’s representative Kris Mychasiw, managing partner with the athlete agency Sprint Management.

Kent was in town to finish up a documentary with Those Canadians Media Group and to record promotions for the National Beer Mile tour, which is expanding in 2017 to include stops in both Toronto and Montreal, along with 19 events in the U.S. Previously, Kent received a six-figure deal when he was named ambassador for the race series.

“I had a feeling something was up as the entire family and the staff, who are also owners, greeted Lewis like a knight with pint glasses pointing up,” Mychasiw said. “At which point Lewis was presented with the Lewis Kent-labeled product.”

The Lewis Kent label was used on the brewery’s flagship beer, Lug Tread. Mychasiw said this is the first step in their collaboration.

“The staff and family were amazing and brought us on a private tour of the brewery, and we enjoyed a few adult beverages of choice with them,” Mychasiw said. “We will be returning  September 23-24 for their Octoberfest festival that attracts more than 20,000 people.”
