What would you do for a year’s supply of beer? If you’re the guy in the video, you’d stick $2.40 up your nose.
This Saturday, for the second year in a row, the Great Northern Brewery will challenge passionate beer lovers to compete in the Black Star Barter, an insane event in Whitefish, Mont., that pits no-holds-barred competitors against each other for a chance to win a year’s supply of Black Star Double Hopped Golden Lager (52 cases, to be exact). What do you have to do? More like, what are you willing to do?
Last year, the barter saw everything from a singing duo comprised of a child and dog, to a family willing to trade a hog and two chickens, expert woodworkers to that guy who stuffed coins in his nose. In the end, the panel of judges chose the radio spots created by Leah Lewis and Tucker Sargent as the winner. Have a listen:
The Black Star Barter, which drew more than 1,000 spectators last year, is a headlining event of the Whitefish Winter Carnival weekend—this year the brewery celebrates its 17th anniversary with the release of a specially brewed black lager.
So, for those of you trekking to Whitefish this year, what level of craziness do you have planned to score that truckload of beer? Hint: $2.40 up the nose won’t cut it.

Yeah… that hurt my nose.
I’m thinking I can get closer to $3 up there this year. =P
