Brew with The Dead and Dogfish Head

Dogfish Head’s certainly racking up the headlines these days. From the release of its Italian-born Birra Etrusca to the fact that Led Zeppelin’s Robert Plant recently stopped by the Delaware brewery, there’s a lot going on. Well, it’s about to get even busier at the brewery.

Back in October, I mentioned Dogfish Head was teaming up with The Grateful Dead to brew an IPA featuring American-grown barley and hops, plus one mystery ingredient to be decided by a lucky fan. Time to get brainstorming because the brewery’s officially fielding ideas: Throughout the month of December, fans can submit their ideas for that special ingredient by going to the “Submit Your Story” page of the brewery’s website. Here’s what they’re looking for: An ingredient that jives well with the IPA base, plus a Grateful Dead-inspired story or memory behind the proposed ingredient. The brewery plans to announce the winning story/ingredient in the spring and will fly the winner out (all expenses paid) for brewing day in the summer—the beer’s slated to release October 2013.
