Dogfish Head’s on a roll these days with music-inspired brews (starting with the Miles Davis-linked Bitches Brew, which made our Top 25 Beers of the Year in 2010), but the upcoming project is its most comprehensive.
Deltron 3030’s Dan the Automator teamed up with Sam and the gang to create Positive Contact, a hybrid beer-and-cider brewed with wood-pressed Fuji apples, roasted farro, cayenne peppers and fresh cilantro—It’s expected to be a sweet-and-sour Belgian-style beer with fruity cider notes, in case you got lost in the ingredients. This 9%-ABV brew’s slated to release this May, packaged in a pretty amazing box set:
“The beer will be released in a dynamic box set of six 750-ml champagne bottles, with a 10-inch vinyl EP of four new Deltron 3030 remixes created exclusively for this project, and a list of Deltron 3030-inspired recipes from a small group of renowned chefs. Invite some friends over, rock the album, drink the beer and whip up a multi-course meal. It’s a house party in a box.”
This collaboration keeps getting better: Participating chefs adding their recipes include Mario Batali, Frédéric Morin and David McMillan of Joe Beef, David Change of the Momofuku restaurants and the Homebrew Chef Sean Paxton.
All things considered, this is an all-star cast—but that was expected considering Sam Calagione’s well-documented affinity for hip-hop:

I think I’ve died and gone to heaven.
I love Dogfish Head beers. I’m a fan of all craft beers; I even brew some of my own.
I’m an even bigger fan of this trio. Their music is pure gold. I hope, and suspect, much like this beer.
