Earlier this week, Dogfish Head announced the newest installment of its Music Series, a collaboration with epic jam band The Grateful Dead. As of now, here’s what we know: The beer’s name, American Beauty, is—obviously— a nod to the band’s classic 1970 album. We also know it will be an IPA featuring American-grown barley and hops. What don’t we know? That’s where you come in. In December, the brewery and band will source ideas for an additional ingredient—note: a legal ingredient—to finish off the brew. From the press release:
“Did you trade a bushel of fresh clementines for tickets to a two-night-stand at Long Beach Arena? Or maybe your dad first laid eyes on your mom sipping a cup of green tea in the parking lot of the legendary Cornell ’77 show? Jog your memory, tell the story, and suggest the ingredient at the heart of that story. You could help bring this counterculture collaboration to life.”
Or, maybe you spent a lot of late college nights cruising the astral plane while listening to Dead bootleg tapes with a bag of Fritos. Don’t suggest Fritos.
Whatever your story is, this is a pretty exciting collaboration between two legendary Heads—and you might get a chance to jam with both of them. The beer’s slated to hit shelves in October 2013.
