Beer Reviews » Doppelbock » Paulaner Salvator brewed by Paulaner Brauerei GmbH and Co. KG
Issue: November December 2009
Brewers worldwide have reinterpreted this beer in many ways, but Salvator is the original, a sweet valentine to the style. Beautiful bready aromas, with tinges of alcohol spiciness, waft enticingly from the rocky, cream-color head. German malts flow sweetly across the tongue, brightened by green grape and cherry fruitiness. Let the brew warm to pull out additional lovely raisin accents. Its medium body and animated carbonation culminate in a refined overall palate, while alcohol lends a gentle warmth into the finish.

As with all Paulaner types I've tried, this one does not disappoint!
This is a major league Bock! One will make you very happy! It tastes better than most any bock beer I've ever had and one can drink several before filling up or getting too tipsy. Simply put, this Bock is what one expects a bock to be.
Drink up!
