This monster of a beer pours inky black with a minimal crown, like the cream on top of your morning coffee. The aroma bursts with coffee and chocolate, alcohol and brown sugar; it’s aggressive in a good way. As it should be, this beer is big, dense and heavy, a meal in itself. On the tongue, Drake’s Imperial Stout lays in thick with vanilla, massive black coffee notes, and a sweetness that’s almost honeylike. Alcohol warmth and low carbonation make it feel even bigger than it is, but in an imperial stout we’d expect nothing less.
