I came. I ran. I drank beer.
Before my last birthday Jim suggested I try a beer and running streak for the next year. Since then I’ve run my fastest 5K since high school, finished a 6:28 beer mile, ran to and from breweries, completed my longest run ever of 30 miles and compiled almost 1,800 total miles. But that wasn’t the only thing that made these 365 days ones to remember.
During that time I’ve also enjoyed more than 700 beers of all different varieties, met and bonded with friends over beer and running, and heard from others who started their own ongoing beer running streaks.
If there was ever any question that beer and running belong together, this year has erased any doubt. It’s shown me time and again that balance can be achieved while doing what you love to do every day. I’ve never felt better.
Tonight I’ll have a birthday dinner with my wife, hang out with my daughter and drink a Second Wind by Mother Earth Brewing, thanks to Brian. I’ll relax, take a deep breath and start the next decade of beer and running.

Congrats Tim, quite an accomplishment.
Nicely done!
LOL, I like how the not-so pin point accuracy of RunKeeper adds a staggering affect to the course. Congrats Tim!
Well done sir. Don’t forget who told you about Second Wind and where you can get more/meet the brewer! #ncbeer
Way to go, Tim! What an incredible goal you set out to achieve, and did it! *high five*
Congrats!! And thanks for inspiring me!
Great Job! I have been tracking your blog on and off for the last year. It is great to see you accomplish and realize a goal that you set in motion a year ago. I also really like your image header on this post–very cool idea. Take care and good luck with the next decade of beer and running.
You’re crazy you know that, right?
Actually you’re an inspiration. Nice work, man.
I’ve been seeing this in your feed for a year? Wow, I guess so. Congrats on finishing. Now to focus on a new epic streak, and to start a new column in streaker magazine.
Excellent work, my friend. You’re quite the inspiration!
Congratulations and Happy Birthday Tim! Your run challenge on Bolder got me doing a little running, so thanks for that.
Cheers!
Wow! That’s awesome! Congrats & Happy Birthday!
Don’t forget — you’ve also another inspired another beer runner along your journey!
Great job, Tim! You are an inspiration in running and beer drinking!
So cool! Did you keep a blog while doing this?
Congrats! That’s quite an accomplishment.
This is so awesome. I dont know if I could run after a beer, or did you do all the drinking at the end of the runs?
Thanks,
Forest.

Very cool! I’ve had a running streak for 21+yrs and love beer too. Never thought to combined the two in one, but makes sense. Love it!
Keep it going!
You’re an inspiration. I have slated my start for next Tuesday, my 22nd birthday. 2 questions for you. 1) Does your drink always immediately follow a run? I’m thinking of morning runs before work. 2) Is there anywhere in Milwaukee that you recommend running to for a special brew?
