Bison Saison de Wench

Your Daily Pint for Wednesday, March 12, 2014 is: BISON SAISON DE WENCH

What it is: a 6%-ABV saison brewed with rose petals, hibiscus and lemongrass

What it tastes like: A citrusy, herbal perfume augments a wonderfully fluffy swallow that’s colored with fresh garden flavors. Floral rose and fruity, fragrant hibiscus lace through a spritzy wash of bready malts; subtle lemongrass and white pepper focus the swallow as a dry, refreshing finish settles in.

Good for the environment: The Berkeley brewery became the first B Corp certified brewery in 2010. According to B Corporation, “B Corp is to sustainable what Fair Trade certification is to coffee or USDA Organic certification is to milk.” Bonus: Bison is also USDA certified organic.

Pair this with: The brewery suggests drinking this one alongside roasted chicken or mussels. We’ll double down on the chicken, and suggest pairing it with this herbal roasted chicken recipe.

Other Bison beers: One of our favorites is Hop Cuvee, an IPA recipe that changes every year and spotlights the best organic hops available each season.

Thanks so much for taking the time to review this! Totes agree on the herbal roasted chicken pairing–might have to make that tonight!
