Pub crawl turns into beer run

Look for this shirt on Saturday

“Why not run the bus route?”

That’s the logical conclusion Evan Johnston came up with to turn this weekend’s Omaha Beer Week pub crawl into a beer run.

He’s been on a beer and running streak for more than 630 days, so he’s been training to combining the two pastimes. But Saturday’s challenge will be particularly daunting.

“The ultimate goal would also be to have a different beer at each bar along the way,” he writes on his blog. “So that makes things a little more complicated and now we’re looking at 18 miles and 12 beers…in one day.”

To get through the day, he plans to take it slow, drink water at a 2-to-1 ratio to beer and eat at the bars to absorb some of the alcohol. He will chronicle the experience on Twitter and is looking for people to join him.

“Since this is on the internet,” he writes, “I guess it’s official and too late to back out.”
