Copper Blues

The big game’s out in Glendale, but Super Bowl Central (just a little 12-block party, NBD) is in the stretch of downtown between 7th Street and 3rd Avenue where sunny Arizona shows its cool side with artsy bars and top-notch taps. Here’s where to get your craft beer fix.

Angels Trumpet Ale House
This minimalist gastropub is where the geeks go—and for good reasons: Nearly 30 impeccable taps rotate gems like Golden Coast Sour Mead and Borderlands collab beers, while the kitchen churns out inventive burgers and creative riffs on Pop-Tarts.

Mother Bunch Brewing
The paint’s hardly dry on Phoenix’s newest brewery, a little brick beer nook in artsy Roosevelt Row. Go for the small-batch cherry porter and beer-steamed mussels—then go again for brunch.

Copper Blues
This dark, slick spot in the middle of the Super Bowl action claims downtown Phoenix’s biggest tap list with 60 craft classics and locals, plus brick-oven pizzas piled high with short rib, shrimp and beyond.

Lost Leaf
Part art gallery, part beer bar, this hipster haunt has a long bottle list loaded with stuff you already love (North Coast Old Rasputin) and locals you should tick (Sonoran White Chocolate Ale).

So you’re more into “The Big Chill” than the Big Game? This local cinema shows films from arthouse bizarre to campy ’80s classics, and of course, you can sip from a dozen taps in the theater.
