I don’t remember what life was like before beer and running every day.
Today marks the 2-year anniversary of my daily beer and run streak. That’s 732 days of at least one mile and one beer per day, usually much more of both.
In the last 365 days I’ve won a few races, coached a couple of teams, lowered my half marathon PR, raced for beer and bacon, ran about 2,200 miles and finished them all off with about 800 beers. That’s an increase of about 400 miles and 100 beers over last year.
One year ago I reached the streak milestone and my 30th birthday with a 30-mile run at the Great American Beer Festival. Today I turn 31 and the day will look like most days: Run at lunchtime and beer after work.
Why do I do this? Because it’s a habit that makes me happy.
So today I picked out a Grand Teton Pursuit of Hoppiness for the occasion. It seemed fitting.
I’m just getting warmed up. There are others who have been enjoying daily beer and running for more than 20 years.
Let the pursuit of hoppiness continue.
