Hoppy holidays/It’s a runderful life

Beer and running are the gifts that keep on giving. Especially when Christmas is a lot like the 813 days that proceeded it, and will hopefully be like many days that follow it.

On Christmas Eve I found a local grocery store’s last 4-pack of Milwaukee Brewing Company’s O-Gii, just in time for an extended family gathering. It was a Christmas miracle.

This morning I woke up semi-early (for Christmas vacation standards) and ran 7 miles on a snow-covered trail, which put my annual running miles at 2,011 to match last year’s total. It was my 814th consecutive day of running (followed by beer).

I then came back to open presents with my wife and 2 1/2-year-old daughter. My daughter insisted I open my box first, and it turned out to be an illustrated map of all the breweries in the country from my wife, aka The Beer Mama. I got my wife a gift card to a lingerie shop.

It’s going to be a happy new year.

The new IPA

Cloudy, hugely flavorful and a lot less bitter, the new breed of IPA is earning high scores and high praise from fans.
