10. Dillon Dam Dam Lyte

Need a beer that won’t weigh you down (literally) while you’re trekking through Colorado’s abundant wilderness? A few pints of Dam Lyte, a light lager from Dillon Dam Brewery, will put a kick in your step with a pale malt character and a touch of hops. You’ll be swift on your feet when those hungry bears wake up in the spring thaw.

9. Florida Beer Ybor Gold Light

Ybor Gold Light, one of five varieties in Florida Beer’s Ybor series, is as crisp as the ocean surf, golden as the zenithal sun and light as the stress level of your average Floridian beach bum. A light-bodied pilsner with just a touch of hop spice, Ybor Gold is a fine way to prep your waistline for summer.

8. Yuengling Light Lager

With just 99 calories, you don’t need to be a mathematical wizard to figure out how many of these you could put back and still remain under your daily caloric intake budget (if you’re keeping track). Straight out of the country’s oldest brewery is this lighter take on the lager that put Yuengling on the map.

7. Boston Beer Sam Adams Light

With its Boston Lager already redefining the U.S. beer industry, the Boston Beer team spent two years developing a lighter (and some might suggest healthier) 119-calorie version. But don’t expect this brew to be a watered-down Boston Lager; Sam Adams Light still delivers roasted malt notes and citrusy noble hops.

6. Southampton Montauk Light

We’re not going to lie: Most of the time, we mosey into Southampton Publick House looking for something big, but sometimes a salad is just as satiating as a steak. Lucky for us, there’s Montauk Light, a full-bodied, bready-and-hoppy lager we love to pair with the House’s steak sandwich.

5. August Schell Original Light

Circling in on the lowest-calories-in-craft-beer award is Original Light, a 100-calorie American lager that’s mild in the malt and hops department; has a crisp, refreshing finish; and is all-around enjoyable. Not a bad way to watch your weight.

4. Sprecher Light

Using its knowledge of well-constructed, subtle Bavarian brews, Sprecher developed a light beer that doesn’t skimp on taste. Combining five different malts and two hop varieties, Sprecher Light offers a relatively complex malt profile with fruity sweetness and a touch of hops.

3. Cucapá Light

Cucapá bucks traditional Mexican beer conventions with its much talked-about barleywine, amber, and pale ale. This light, low-cal lager also deserves some respect: It boasts a nice balance of biscuit flavors and grassy hops, and just enough bitterness at the end to entice those bent on maintaining “drinkability” while decreasing their belt size.

2. Spoetzl Shiner Light

So maybe guzzling a few of these while chomping on smoked brisket and sausage isn’t what the dietician ordered, but, hey, at least you’re trying. This amber brew clocks in at just 120 calories, boasts Munich malt flavors and proves not everything that’s good in Texas is big -- including you, if you stick to this beer.

1. Karl Strauss Endless Summer Light

We’ve always wondered how San Diego’s beer-swilling surfers and beach babes stay fit; this might be the answer. This year-round light lager still packs enough Vienna malt flavor, as well as a touch of noble Saaz hops, to quench both your thirst and your palate. At just 110 calories per bottle, Summer Light gives you a buzz, not guilt.
