Perfecting the Pickle

Dear "Pickled,"
I used white vinegar for the recipe that appears here. Since my original pickling experiment, I've altered this recipe several times to achieve different results; for a tamer version of the above, use 4 cups water and 2 cups vinegar, and omit the red pepper and cinnamon stick. Try bread-and-butter pickles with cider vinegar. And although I've never seen anything pickled with red wine vinegar, that doesn't mean it won't work. Good luck, and happy pickling!

Recipe sounds good, especially the spice blend. What kind of vinegar did you use? Cider? White? Malt? Red Wine?
