A taste of the Divine

The oldest craft brewery in Texas will give mere mortals a taste of the divine this week, as Saint Arnold Brewing Company presents Divine Reserve No. 6. Sixth in the brewery’s line of small-batch beers, the American barleywine with a 10% ABV promises to be a homage to the style popularized by San Francisco’s Anchor Brewing.




“Saint Arnold Divine Reserve No. 6 builds on the tradition of American craft brewers and the result is special treat for anyone who enjoys a big, strong, high-quality beer,” said Brock Wagner, Founder/Brewer of Saint Arnold Brewing. “We loaded it up with hops, so it is intense, but it is amazingly balanced and wonderfully full-bodied. We are very proud of it.”




“Loaded” is an understatement; the 120-barrel recipe features 225 pounds of hops, costing more than the total ingredients in any earlier installment of the Divine Reserve Series.




Less than 1,200 cases (six-packs are priced at about $15) and a very limited supply of kegs of No. 6 will be released June 12 and 13 at select stores in Houston, Austin, San Antonio and Dallas/Fort Worth.
