Schlafly to buy InBev
Published by Staff on 6.25.2008 at 1:13 p.m.The St. Louie brewing community is pretty tight-knit, so its only natural that the city’s Schlafly Beer would be up in arms over InBev’s proposed takeover of its brewing bretheren, Anheuser-Busch. To attempt to keep Budweiser local and thwart the Euro-giant’s plans, Schlafly has begun to raise funds to buy InBev—of course, if Schlafly falls short of the $50 billion required for that takeover, the brewery plans to match contributions dollar-for-dollar and donate the sum to Forest Park Forever. Created in 1986 to preserve the treasured St. Louis park, the organization must earn about $4.5 million each year to provide adequate maintenance and upgrades to the grounds.
