Deschutes names two new brewmasters

Brian Faivre

Yesterday, Deschutes Brewery in Bend, Ore., announced Cam O’Connor and Brian Faivre as the company’s new brewmasters, following the

departure of prolific beer-maker Larry Sidor in spring. Both men have worked within Deschutes’ brewing department for several years, and were instrumental in the development of innovative brews like Red Chair NWPA, Hop in the Dark, and the forthcoming Chainbreaker White IPA. O’Connor and Faivre have also completed the University of California-Davis Master Brewer program.

“Pushing boundaries and experimenting with new beers is what defines us as a company,” said Gary Fish, president and founder of Deschutes Brewery. “Brian and Cam have been instrumental in creating many of the new beers that have been brought to our fans over the last few years. The fact that we were able to promote from within the brewing department is a testament to the strong team of brewers we have here at Deschutes, and we are looking forward to seeing their creativity continue in their expanded roles as brewmasters.”
