This September, Los Angeles’s ever-growing craft beer scene will get a new brand all its own when Golden Road Brewing in North Atwater Village, Ca. begins brewing.
Fronted by Tony Yanow (you know him from Tony’s Darts Away and Mohawk Bend), the project also includes brewmaster Jon Carpenter, formerly of Dogfish Head, and co-owner and president Meg Gill, who held previous posts at Oskar Blues and Speakeasy.
“With Golden Road Brewing, we really want to help bridge the gap by providing local, reliably top quality craft beers that people can easily find and will really enjoy,” he said.
To change things up, Gill said they plan to can rather than use traditional bottles.
“We’ve already purchased our first canning line,” Gill said. “And we feel great knowing we’ll be putting our products in the right package, so we can deliver flavor and economy to our drinkers without sacrificing our commitment to quality or the environment.”
Golden Road will be laid out in a three-building campus (one for production, one for barrel storage and another for an eventual pub) at the northernmost tip of Atwater Village. The brewery aims to produce more than 1,000 barrels in its first year.
