North Face ECS Race Report

Last year, I looked like this after the North Face Endurance Challenge Series half marathon. This year, I looked like the photo above.

Each photo pretty much sums it up.

Today’s race was cold and rainy, which is actually great racing conditions. Except that the rain turned a lot of the Kettle Moraine area trail to wet sand and muck.

Given the terrain and my relatively poor training lately, I decided pretty quickly on that this would not be a PR day. So I took it easy and had a rather enjoyable jog in the woods. I finished in a comfortable 1:38, about 10 minutes slower than last year.

I treated the race as an opportunity to clear my head, enjoy the scenery and get in a long training run for the upcoming Dogfish Dash. And I was happy to see Delafield Brewhaus’ Kolsch when I reached the finish line.

And speaking of Dogfish Head, DRAFT sent me a shipment of beer that included Dogfish Head’s 60 Minute IPA and Pangea. I’ll include a write-up of my favorites from the batch soon. And at least I will not be undertrained when it comes to the beer.
