Otter Creek/Lawson’s Double Dose IPA

Your Daily Pint for Monday, Nov. 10, 2013 is: OTTER CREEK/LAWSON’S DOUBLE DOSE IPA.

What it is: an 8.5%-ABV imperial IPA.

What it tastes like: This big beer’s packed with a ton of vivid fruit notes: Pineapple, grapefruit, peach, mango—you name it. Just the right amount of caramel-laced toasted malts carries the package with ease. Firm bitterness dries up each punchy sip.

Meeting of the minds: As you can tell by the label, this beer’s a collaboration between two Vermont breweries, Otter Creek and Lawson’s Finest Liquids—beers from the latter are notoriously hard to find, even for residents of the Granite State.

Watch the collaboration unfold:

What it pairs with: With a bright fruity profile, there’s a lot of pairing potential. Sip this beer alongside something that will adopt the flavor, but stand up to the bitterness: The beer’s prickly bite and fruitiness will counter a rich, funky chunk of blue cheese. Chive-spiked Cotswold cheese will draw out the IPA’s secondary pine hop flavors.
