When was the last time a new IPA made you sit up and take notice? Not a black IPA, not a rye IPA, not a session- dry-hopped-white IPA, just… a really great IPA. This new 6.3% year-rounder from Denver’s Breckenridge Brewery snapped us out of our hop fatigue, displaying all the layered complexity this style can offer: catty hop aroma followed by pineapple and passion fruit hop flavor, all grounded in the sip’s cool, herbal center. Thank late additions of Cascade and Mosaic hops for that thrill ride, but an experimental malt is actually the wild card: Full Pint, a relatively new malt variety grown in Oregon, stands up to the bittering hops and lends satisfying weight to each swallow. If you think your palate’s moved past IPAs, Breck will remind you why you loved them in the first place.
