Port City Optimal Wit

CATEGORIES: Daily Pint

Your daily pint for Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013 is: PORT CITY OPTIMAL WIT

What it is: a 5%-ABV Belgian-style witbier.

What it tastes like: Smooth, bready malts carry summery flavors of citrusy sharp orange peel, grains of paradise and coriander; each sip’s capped off by an extremely refreshing crisp finish. This beer’s simply a delight.

How good is it compared to other witbiers? Just ask the judges at this year’s Great American Beer Festival, who awarded Optimal Wit a gold medal in the Belgian-style witbier category.

Medals. Medals everywhere: Port City—and Virginia as a whole—is really becoming a beer destination. The Alexandria, Va. brewery took home four medals at GABF this year. Virginia breweries combined to win a total of 14 medals at the competition. There’s a lot of great beer flowing in the Commonwealth.

Swing by the brewery: Especially if you’re not up to anything on Halloween. Port City’s hosting a Halloween-themed trivia night Thursday, Oct. 31, inside its tasting room.
