DRAFT REVIEW: Schonramer Saphir Bock

Saphir, named after a single German hop variety, greets the nose with wispy grain, lemon juice and honey; a hint of earthiness swirls in the distance. On the tongue, honey sweetens robust bread flavors, while bright lemon zest pops on the tongue. Although the beer’s missing the style’s hallmark toasted malt and bread crust flavors, it’s an extremely drinkable beer—a surprise considering its 8.0% ABV.
