Pyramid brews this beer in the British tradition of holiday beers, which yields an incredibly smooth product. It is also visually alluring, with a deep umber color and multitude of crimson highlights topped by a thick tan head. Hop aromas are kept minimal but pleasant, while in both the nose and the mouth, malt comes through with molasses notes and a lucious nuttiness. Experienced palates should also note vinious flavors and fruity esters. The body is medium and the carbonation is low, so the body doesn't quite hold up well enough to the strong malt flavors. Overall, though, this is a fine beer to enjoy this winter.
