Bear Republic’s amber pours clear and mahogany, wearing a frothy, tan head. Earthy hops come on thick in the aroma, but the nose will still catch subtle citrus and gentle toasted malt accents. On the front of the swallow, powerfully toasty and caramel-sweet malts sink deep into the tongue, but they merely pave the way for an even stronger, exuberant hop bill featuring stiff bitterness and zesty grapefruit laced with floral tones. Red Rocket is bubbly and hides its alcohol well with no obvious warming of the throat. It’s not one to age; consume it fresh to get the best of the bright, lively hops found in both the flavor and aroma.
