Dogfish Head just announced that they’re opening a new place to stay, and it’s location is beer runner friendly.

The 16-room Dogfish Inn will open in downtown Lewes, Delaware. And as one local pointed out, it’s strategically located at the Junction and Breakwater trail (which is being expanded) and the Georgetown Lewes trail (which is under design) with a spur to Milton, home of the Dogfish Brewery.

According to the announcement, the location overlooks a harbor in historic Lewes, “the halfway point between our brewpub and distillery in Rehoboth Beach and our production brewery in Milton.” You could run roughly a half marathon and a 10K to or from each location, with a night’s stay in between. Read more about the new development here.

Speaking of Dogfish Head, next week I’ll be in town for the Dogfish Dash. Come find me and we can grab a beer together. I may even have an extra Beer Runner shirt for you.

I’m most excited about the trail expansion; I love running on the Junction & Breakwater trail, but at the moment it ends just as you get into Lewes (when running from Rehoboth), so this is very welcome news. It’s also handy to walk to the outlets via the trail, thus avoiding the need to fight with traffic or parking.
