Run to San Francisco Beer Week

There’s no shortage of niche events at San Fracisco Beer Week.

You can drink stouts with oysters. You can pair a 4-course organic vegan meal with organic beers. You can even eat beer ice cream.

Run, don't walk, to San Francisco Beer Week

The Beer Runner’s top pick would be The 2nd Annual San Francisco Beer Week Beer Run on Feb 13th.

“Last year’s race was cobbled together just a few days ahead of time,” said co-organizer and my beer blogging buddy Derrick Peterman. “We realized we could get easily 30+ next year with more advance publicity.” Hence the plug here almost a month ahead of time.

Peterman along with “Red, White, and Brew” author Brian Yaeger and Washington Times beer writer Bryan Kolesar mapped out the 5-mile route through Golden Gate Park. Afterward, all runners get $1 off their post-run beers at Social Kitchen & Brewery.

“It’s easy to take a short cut making it 3.5 miles if participants either don’t have it in ’em or are too thirsty to wait,” Yaeger said. “But they’d be missing the run around Stow Lake in Golden Gate Park.”

“As you and I know, beer and running may seem like an odd pairing, but shares a lot of resonance,” Peterman said. “I’m looking forward to meeting a lot of like-minded people.”

To register, leave a comment RSVP’ing on Derrick’s blog post.
