The best beer commercials of 2012

We sipped some incredible brews this year, but some of beer’s best achievements showed up not in the bottle, but on the screen: Here are our favorite beer commercials of 2012.

BEST CAMEO

Super Bowl XLVI viewers in Nebraska were treated to weirdness only Will Ferrell could provide in this spot for Old Milwaukee.

BEST BOND NOD

We didn’t think anything could top Heineken’s “The Switch” ad this year, and a James Bond-esque ad seems a little obvious for the brewery featured in the film, no? But “The Express” knocked it out of the park with a Daniel Craig appearance, an arctic parachute fall and a seriously amazing house of cards. This related short of Heineken’s takeover of New York’s MTA Museum is part party promo, part performance art exhibit.

BEST FEEL-GOOD AD

It aired during football’s greatest game, but Budweiser’s best spot depicted what happens when you make the dreams of two Canadian rec-league hockey teams come true.

BEST SPOOF

Breckenridge Brewery’s big-brewer satires bring the funny; too bad you can only see them in Fox’s Denver broadcasts (or on the brewery’s video site). Our favorite: “The Passionate Brewer.”

BEST HOMEBREWER JAB

Buffalo Wild Wings ribs homebrewers in this admittedly hilarious spot. Bratwurst Beer; sounds like something Rogue might do?

And though they’re not TV commercials, we also liked Miller Lite’s multi-episode Fantasy Football series (starting here with “Draft Day”), if only because it’s so damn true to life. Love any beer commercials we missed? Let us know.
