A new group of trail runs called the VERT race series brings together beer runners in the backcountry.

The next race coming up is the Sasquatch on July 14, a 2.35-mile “sprint” trail race followed by a Zoo party sponsored by four Massachusetts brewers. The race takes place in a nature reserve in Medford, MA.

In addition to the normal prizes for being fast, you can also take home top honors in the “social runner” category. I’m not sure what that entails, but beer probably won’t hurt your chances.

Want to join a brewery for the race? Notch BrewingNight Shift Beer and Pretty Beer still have spots on their teams. Runners can sign-up here

Follow the Sasquatch, the Big Bad Wolf takes place on September 21 at the Ipswich Ale Brewery in Ipswich, MA.
