What I’m drinking

Lagunitas Sumpin' Sumpin' Ale

What haven’t I been drinking?

This week I ran 53 miles, which was my highest weekly mileage since March. Despite record-setting heat in Milwaukee, I was inspired to get out and do this by this blog. I proved to myself I could do it and not make excuses.

As a benefit to all these miles, my beer allowance skyrocketed. So I’ve been enjoying quite a few different beers.

First and foremost, I picked up a six pack of Lagunita’s Sumpin’ Sumpin’ Ale. This is one of my favorite beers of all time and it’s been far too long. It’s citrusy, just the right amount of hops, and tastes like summer. I can’t get enough of it.

Hinterland Saison

Tonight I had Hinterland’s Saison while grilling out. Its spicy, peppery finish complements the burgers, and the pint-sized bottled mean fewer trips running back to the fridge for more.

Shiner Ryes & Shine

I finished the meal with Shiner’s Ryes & Shine Rye Lager, which is part of their small batch Brewers Pride series. The brewers use chocolate German rye, which gives it a roasty, savory flavor perfect for dessert. Now I wish it wasn’t so small batch.

One brewery I have to talk about is Strike. One day I received a whole box of beer from them, complete with a hand-written note talking about their appreciate for fine beer and an active lifestyle. I liked them immediately. Turns out, their label professes the same dedication.

I greatly enjoyed everything I tried from Strike, and I’m not just saying that because they sent me free beer (though it didn’t hurt). Probably my favorite offering from them was their IPA, though their Wit beer was also phenominal. Thanks again, Strike.

Other beers I’ve had include Black Diamond Brewing Steep Trail Amber Ale, a decent brew which made me want to go for a trail run; a full-bodied Dortmunder Gold by Great Lakes Brewing Co with which I celebrated the 4th of July, and BridgePort’s new 2012 version of Stumptown Tart, an ideal dessert beer.

As I’m writing this I drank another Lagunitas Sumpin’ Sumpin’. I told you I can’t get enough. Motivation to run even more miles next week.

I love Lagunitas Lil Sumpin Sumpin too! It’s so tasty & refreshing, and perfect year-round where I live (South Florida). Problem is, they always seem to be out of it at beer store I frequent. Cheers to an enjoyable summer of running and beer…

HerbThe problem with this sticneific analysis of women’s commentary is that the readers of are an invalid sample, given that they are self-describing as craft drinkers. If 95% of drinkers are not craft drinkers, then you’d need to talk to them to get a realistic sample. This is like deciding that everyone in the world is a fan of your football team because you asked your friends, and they all had the same favorite team, too.
