Wild world of YouTube beer reviews

Everyone has an opinion. When it comes to beer, YouTube is one of my favorite places to hear what consumers are saying. The number of beer fans voicing their thoughts on the video-sharing site has risen dramatically over the past few years and not without its share of opinionated characters. What I love about YouTube beer reviews is the variation of personality and presentation: From “Star Wars” themes, to rich southern accents; tag-teams and slice-of-lifers. If you want to take a trip through the wild world of online beer reviews, here are a few characters worth checking out. And, of course, don’t miss out on this magazine’s own reviews in the DRAFT video section.

Drinking with a Jedi
What can I say? I’m a “Star Wars” nerd. This guy sticks to character and his beer glass kind of looks like a lightsaber. Check out the Jedi’s thoughts on Hangar 24 Essence.

Greg’s Beer Reviews
With his southern drawl, I could listen to Greg review beer all day. He’s also got a nicely stocked beer fridge. Here’s his review of St. George Oktoberfest.

Bike Beer BBQ
I’m guessing most drinkers can relate to these videos: a slice of domestic life with a twist of beer. This review-carwash video of Finch’s Threadless IPA feels like you’re hanging out with a neighbor.

Living on a Beer Budget
If you’ve never spent time with beer-loving couples, this is as close as you’ll come to the real thing. Couples that drink together, stay together: In this case, it’s Rodenbach Grand Cru.

What do you look for in a video beer review?

I pretty much exclusively watch Beer Geek Nation at this point(http://www.youtube.com/beergeeknation). He has really evolved his reviews into something that is properly produced, well thought out descriptors, and honestly listens and responds to comments. He has reviewed beer from just about everywhere, and has reviewed everything from Bud Light to Cigar City Hunahpu’s Imperial Stout. Seriously, if you haven’t, go subscribe to his channel. Dude’s legit, no gimmicks.

I should note, he also posts homebrew videos, but not nearly as many as his reviews.

    Cheers!

I watch several “beer Review” shows online but would have to say that New Brew Thursday is my most watched show. I also regularly watch the hopcast and beer geek nation as well but New Brew Thursday not only gives the reviews of the beer but also includes pairing segments with Dr. Bill. There production value is much better than most videos out there as well.

The only one I watch that is Beer Geek Nation. By far the most popular on YT for good reason. He is concise, professional and well produced
