World Beer Cup awards announced

On Saturday, the Brewers Association announced the awards of the biannual World Beer Cup. Nearly 800 breweries from 54 countries and 45 U.S. states entered 3,921 beers in 95 beer style categories, judged by more than 200 international judges. American IPAs saw the most entries with 150 brews; Michigan’s Kuhnhenn Brewing stole gold with its DRIPA version of the style. Winning the small, mid-size and large Brewery of the Year categories (based on the number of medals earned) were Brauerei Michael Plank, Firestone Walker and AB-InBev, respectively; Iron Hill scored the small brewpub award, while Pelican Pub & Brewery took the large brewpub prize.
