TACO Beer-GaritaHappy Cinco de Mayo! Now, anyone can plop a bottle of Mexican lager in a margarita. But Adam Bernbach, bar director at 2 Birds 1 Stone in Washington, D.C., offers this version of the cocktail (sometimes called a Mexican Bulldog) that combines the best aspects of both beer and tequila—and keeps your cocktail free of an upturned bottle:

1.5 ounces blanco tequila
1 ounce cantaloupe syrup (equal parts cantaloupe puree & simple syrup)
¼ ounce lime juice
3 ounces pilsner
sage for garnish

Combine the tequila, lime juice and cantaloupe syrup in an ice-filled shaker. Shake and strain over ice in a Collins or margarita glass. Top with pilsner  (German or American versions work). Garnish with a sprig of sage.

Why a Miller Lite Was the Best Beer I’ve Ever Had

I’ve worked in craft beer for nearly five years now. I’ve had the fortune to try some truly amazing brews: Pliny the Elder, Heady Topper, Bourbon Barrel Aged Expedition Stout. Supplication? I’ve got one in my mini-fridge. The reason I’m telling you this is because I want to frame my statements here properly. I’ve had good beer, trust me. The best beer I’ve ever had, though, was a Miller Lite.
