When I tell the uninitiated about this blog, I occasionally have to overcome the stereotype that beer drinkers are lazy slobs that guzzle six packs while watching football. You can actually be into craft beer and a healthy, active lifestyle.

It turns out football players themselves can overcome a similar stereotype.

Runner’s World recently covered the transformation of former NFL lineman Alan Faneca, who dropped more than 100 pounds and ran a sub-4 hour marathon after his football career ended.

But his motivation hasn’t changed. According to Faneca:

“A lot of people ask me, do I miss football? I don’t miss football but what I do miss is that first beer after a game. I had the same feeling after the race.” tweet

And he can reward himself after running the same way he can reward himself after a game.

After completing the New Orleans Rock ’n’ Roll Marathon, he had an Abita craft beer at the finish.
