Evolution Exile Red Ale

CATEGORIES: Daily Pint

Your Daily Pint for Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2014 is: EVOLUTION EXILE RED ALE

What it is: a 5.9%-ABV red ale dry-hopped with Cascade and East Kent Goldings.

What it tastes like: Dark, toasted bread crusts and citrusy, earthy hop scents reach up to the nose. Like the aroma, this beer leads with toasted bread crusts, backed by a nice caramel sweetness; citrusy, grassy hops lace the profile before a pleasantly bitter bite nips the swallow.

What it resembles: Simply called a red ale, this beer’s most like an ESB, but with a slight American hop twist.

Coming up: Don’t miss the annual release of Nouveau Rouge when it returns later this month. The fruity, vinous sweet-and-tart sipper was one of our Top 25 Beers of the Year in 2013.

Drink Evolution on IPA Day: Still looking for an IPA to tip back tomorrow on IPA Day? If you’re a Mid-Atlantic dweller, pick up the brewery’s citrusy Lot No. 3 India Pale Ale (scored 88 points) or the slightly larger version Lot No. 6 Double IPA (scored 94 points).
