Your Daily Pint for Thursday, Oct. 2, 2014, is: FIRESTONE WALKER OAKTOBERFEST
What it is: A 5%-ABV Oktoberfest
What it tastes like: It’s certainly Oktoberfesty, but it’s not by the book (in a good way!). The malts read more honey than traditional toffee, and the grassy hop spice (courtesy Hallertau) shines brighter. The swallow’s nice and easy, just as the style should be.
A new kind of festbier: We like our O-fests a little untraditional; here are five more unique yet fest-worthy beers to try.
What’s in a name?: Firestone-Walker wood-ages many of its beers, but this isn’t one of them: Rather, the beer’s name stems from the brewery’s hometown, Paso Robles, Calif. – Spanish for “Pass of the Oaks.”
Winner, winner: This beer won a silver medal at 2008’s Great American Beer Festival – that little get-together in Denver that begins today!
