Founders Mango Magnifico

CATEGORIES: Daily Pint

Your daily pint for Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013 is: Founders Mango Magnifico

What it is: The newest release in the brewery’s Backstage Series. This beer’s a strong ale brewed with mangos and Michigan-grown habaneros.

What it tastes like: If you’ve ever enjoyed mango salsa, you’ll have an idea of what to expect from this sipper. Creamy caramel and sweet tropical mango take the lead; simmering heat trails each big sip. This beer’s big in every sense: The mouthfeel is thick, the heat is persistent and the 10% ABV (although well-hidden) is not for the faint of heart.

Heat, on a level of one to five chili peppers: Probably a three, leaning toward a four.

What it pairs with: Carne asada, chips and guacamole, burritos, street tacos—you get the picture. Just make sure something’s in your stomach before you start sipping this one.

What Will Ferrell movie it pairs with: Obviously, “Casa de mi Padre.”
