Your Daily Pint for Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2014 is: LAZY MAGNOLIA JEFF STOUT
What it is: A 4.6%-ABV sweet stout brewed with sweet potatoes.
What it tastes like: A light body splashes down with roasted malts and a touch of milky sweetness; along the way subtle, earthy sweet potato notes lace through the wash and lend a slight creaminess to the sip. Drying roasted malts cap off this easy sipper.
Speaking of potatoes: The United States Potato Board is offering $100 weekly to people who post the best pics of potato dishes on Facebook or Instagram using the tag #TopTater. Seriously.
Experiments in the Deep South: Considering the entire state of Mississippi only has a fraction of the breweries in a city like, let’s say, San Diego, Lazy Magnolia sure does put out some experimental beers (and they have since the beginning!). On top of this year-round sweet potato cream stout, it also offers Southern Pecan (a pecan nut brown ale), Southern Gold (a honey ale) and Timber Beast (an imperial rye IPA).
