Pale 31

Any beer that takes home gold medals at the World Beer Cup (2004 and 2006) and Great American Beer Festival (2007 and 2008) is certainly worthy of a beer enthusiast's attention. Pouring very clear and gold, this brew is topped with a fluffy, white head. Pine and grapefruit scents rush out of the glass ahead of the light, fresh-baked-bread malt character, coalescing in a clean, crisp aroma. The taste is compartmentalized: Distinct breadiness washes over the tongue first, but quickly disappears; then, the hops jump in with sturdy citrus flavors plus subtle pine and flowery notes. With a medium body, low alcohol, and clean, dry finish, this beer has no rough edges.
