The earthy malt aroma might not be the most noticeable characteristic of this brew, but it is certainly its most unique trait. Along with the citrusy and somewhat flowery notes in the nose, the aroma is distinctive for an American IPA. The aroma is backed by a radiant orange color and a strong, long-lasting head. We love the clean hop bitterness, but the malt backbone could have been a bit stronger to give it more balance. Overall, Victory Hop Devil does depart from the traditional standards of an American IPA, but it is well crafted, has great carbonation, and is very satisfying.
