London Porter

While not the most well-known of the smoked porters in this issue, Arcadia's London Porter is certainly complex; the perceptive drinker can almost taste all seven types of grain used in the brewing process. In the aroma, caramelized sugars play the dominant role, alongside some roasted notes from the darker grains. The initial mildly sweet taste is soon joined by a complement of smoked and earthy flavors and English hops. The slight astringency, somewhat expected due to the smoking process, does not detract from this quality brew, another great beer from Arcadia's regular lineup of ales.
