Winter brews are seemingly all about the malt. Pyramid might not be changing the status quo, but it has produced a fine winter brew that leans heavily on its hop flavor. This slightly cloudy, ruby-color brew begins with phenolic spiciness and floral hop aromas. Its slight alcohol flavor is a bit strong, but there is an intangible quality to this sweet beer. The bitterness works well with the malt, and the hop flavors loiter on the tongue well after the last sip. Snow Cap could be a bit more warming and a little less sharp on the tongue, but it's hard to complain about such a unique brew.
