We're not sure the brewers at Kiuchi Brewery intended for this brew to be enjoyed in the middle of winter, but we couldn't think of a better time to savor this classic. With obvious (but not overwhelming) ginger notes and subdued maltiness in the nose, this ginger ale just might make you want to move to Japan -- and if the aroma doesn't do it, the taste certainly will. There is a wonderful spiciness from the ginger, but that doesn't make the malt and the hops irrelevant. On the contrary, they are noticeable and very balanced. A slightly sharp flavor finishes this beer off but does little to detract from the astonishing experience. And if all that isn't enough, we love the ginger-shaped man dancing in the snow on the label.
