Single-malt, single-hop (SMASH) beers are brewed with, yes, just one hop and one malt variety, so it’s impressive that there’s so much complexity in this well- constructed double IPA. Big catbox and resinous hop scents with dark bread complete the aroma; those same toasted breadcrust notes lead on the tongue before catty and light scallion hop flavor arrive a beat later. The swallow ends balanced, sliding into a dry, bitter finish.
