Hammerhead Ale

Northwest chain-of-all-trades McMenamins has been brewing this Cascade-hopped pale since 1986; it was moved into cans for the first time this year. While tame citrusy and floral hops lead the aroma, on the tongue rough-andtumble malt flavors—toasted grain, dry all-grain bread and a dull huskiness—provide a heavy, barley-focused base that outshines gentle herbal bitterness.
