W '08 Crimson Wheat

RATING
91

From one of the country’s most iconic wheat beer producers, this seasonal offering is several shades darker than Widmer’s traditional wheat beer, pouring an amber hue with good clarity and a smooth, tan head. The aroma is nutty with toasted grains peeking through and just enough spicy hops to alert your tongue. Its flavor is wheaty throughout, with baked grain flavors up front and sharper notes in the end. The hops provide enough bitterness to balance the flavors, but without any harshness. Medium-bodied and highly carbonated, Crimson Wheat has very low alcohol presence, finishing quite dry with a clean, nutty aftertaste.
