Merlin's Ale

RATING
87

This brew’s clear, deep copper color and thin, tan head conspire to entice the palate. Pleasantly mild, gentle wafts of grainy sweetness, floral hop wisps, and smoke waves nudge the nose. Overall, the medium-bodied brew’s flavors are tempered; lively carbonation carries the well-constructed tastes tidily across the palate. Malt sweetness engenders musty tones and some sherry notes that string through the end, while hops are barely perceptible, peeking through with only quiet bitterness. Sweet, long-lasting caramel notes play well into the finish, completing a structured swallow.
